Microserfs

Douglas Coupland is brilliant. Ed, I can’t thank you enough for lending me Microserfs. This novel, about a group of geeks working at Microsoft is absolute genius. Either Douglas Coupland himself is a geek, or an incredibly well researched author. The perspective on all facets of life is undeniably Slashdot-like. And I find this to be awesome. These characters even get into philosophical discussions about the universe: digital or analog? (A binary choice, isn’t it?) And on our bodies (the human body as memory storage?) among other things. Furthermore, there is significant subtext (if you read between the lines) that yield Serial Experiments Lain-type musings on humanity as a collective unconcious… “humanity is dreaming,” in a sense… And an exploration into a computer’s subconcious becomes the narrator’s ongoing experiment. It asks questions as well, and really gets me thinking. I love this book.

Yay, another happy customer! I’m quite glad you’re enjoying it Skrud. Eat up.
